Prof. Dr. Elvira Buonocore
Scientific area: Applied Ecology and Sustainable Development
Elvira Buonocore is an Associate Professor of Ecology at the Department of Science and Technology of Parthenope University of Naples, Italy.
After graduating with honours in Environmental Sciences, she achieved the international title of Ph.D. in “Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development” with label of Doctor Europaeus.
Over the last fifteen years, her research activities have been focused on investigating natural and human dominated ecosystems using ecosystem accounting and environmental assessment to unfold the role of matter and energy flows in the functioning of ecosystems.
She is Scientific Responsible of the Research Line & Laboratory "Applied Ecology and Sustainable Development" at the Department of Science and Technology of Parthenope University of Naples where she leads research projects in the field of ecosystem and environmental assessment, with particular reference to natural capital and ecosystem services.
She is Director of the Master Programme "Sustainability Manager for the Ecological Transition" co-funded by the National Federation of the Order of Biologists (FNOB). She is also Teaching Coordinator of the Master Programme "Project Manager of the Public Administration: interdisciplinary tools for the sustainable development of local Authorities".
She is Secretary and active member of the International PhD Programme "Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development" and Responsible of the Scientific Secretariat of the homonymous UNESCO Chair, both based at Parthenope University of Naples.
Over the last ten years, she has been teaching courses of Ecology, Environmental Accounting, and Life Cycle Assessment" in the framework of the Bachelor and Master Programmes in Biological Sciences. In addition, she has been supervising several students at Bachelor, Master, and PhD level.
